You run on loop courses – start and finish are, with one exception, always at the hotel. So no relocating! Don't be put off by the elevation gain. It may be tough at times, but the dropout rate of this event has been extremely low so far.

Bergische 5 is a genuine trail event with a medium to challenging level. You should have experience with trail running and be able to handle technical sections. Good base fitness for 25–30 km per day is required.
Trail running shoes with good grip are essential! We also recommend: running pack or vest, water bottle, weatherproof jacket, first aid kit and enough nutrition for the trail. Poles are allowed but not required.
All stages are well marked with tape and signs. You also receive GPS tracks for download. Course marshals are positioned at critical points. We still recommend a watch or app with GPS navigation as backup.
Yes! Each stage has at least two aid stations with water, electrolyte drinks, fruit, bars and salty snacks. Start and finish also offer warm food. Still, you should carry your own emergency rations.
Yes, you can book individual stages! Perfect if you want to get a feel for Bergische 5 first or have limited time. However, the finisher medal is only awarded for completing the full challenge.
